Parent's Portal:
Your Classroom and Teacher Connection
Your U-Connect parent's password not only gives you access to your
own private parent's "community builder" tools, but also
gives you direct access to protected teacher-parent communication
and allows you to monitor your child's progress on a daily
basis. The "community builder" is not only used for
communication with the classroom, but is also to be used for
organizing PAC activities. To access, get a password from your
teacher and login to "E-Community." To access these
tools you will need to login using the "E-Community" link
above.
A community
is a group of students or parents with a common interest, activity
or characteristic. A group of students, for example, interested as
is a chess club, or a school class. With your community building
tools, you will create cyber-spaces where students and parents can
post messages, chat with one-another, announce events, display
photos, share files, and much more using about twenty different
community building tools.
Beyond creating cyber-communities,
your community building tools also allow you to create "Spawner
Communities" or
"sub-communities". Spawner
communities have the ability to create (spawn) additional
communities ‘under them’, in addition to providing to their
members all of the regular community services. For
example, you can use your family community account to
"spawn" a separate student "sub-community" for
your child and his/her friends to research and publish a web-site
for a project on ancient civilizations. It is
even possible for this sub-community on ancient civilizations to
spawn 'sub-sub' communities - perhaps one for ancient Egypt and
another for ancient Greece.
To access all
the above functions, you must login under the
"E-Communities" link above. However, here is a link
to the very active parents discussion
forum.
